There are no other Fish in the Sea

I'm asexual, but I tried to put myself in the mind of a man who's relationship ended

Rhyme fast, cause it could be your last

Don’t lose yourself fast in the past or you’ll come in last

Sailing post mast into oblivion, no giving in, I know that you’re with him, not me

 

Swimming alone in clear waters, the air hotter than our hot boxed car, but you’re so far away

I wanted to stay but it looks like I’m gone anyway

Maybe I wasn’t really needed, I yelled at you with angry words when I should have just eat it

 

Now I’m long gone, I can still remember what went wrong, that argument, the words I sent maliciously

I don’t want to be the bad guy, can’t you see?

Seems like you and me will never be again, your meeting other men, and I’ve been forgotten

 

Thought our love was real, don’t know what to feel, don’t want to steal your happiness

Maybe you just need to be away from this

I’m pissed, but not at you, what am I to do? The sky is blue the water too, but here without you here I feel gray

 

Don’t know what to say, don’t know what to do, but I wish I was still with you

There are no other fish in the sea

I particularly liked your last two lines, they conclude everything nicely, almost accepting this love to be the only one... if only everyone could find a love like that.

When I first started reading your poem it felt to me like it could have been a rap song (I know rap is a form of poetry of course!) however, that is just what it felt like to me.

Maybe you should try writing a rap song :)

Sometimes we think we can change things that were meant to be, but personal perceptions can be deceiving. I believe we lose things for a reason, sometimes we have to make room for bigger and better things.
Besides that, nice rythem and rhyme here, a pleasure to read!

Lovely metaphor, no other fish in the sea. That's how one feels when they feel lonely. Even if there is happiness around them they feel like they are in a sea without anyone. I loved the imagery. Beautifully written.
