I am Rain

I am Rain

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

I wrote this poem while I was feeling quite ill, so it's not very good, but it's still worth posting. Feel free to criticize it, I myself don't like it.

"

I am rain

I am a gentle breeze falling from the sky

I am dark clouds that the sun’s rays cannot shine by

I am soul drops lost, and people gone

I am the frost in your angry fire, icebergs fond to find a new way to ruin your day, and rain on your parade

I am always blamed for your problems, but never have done wrong

Strong enough to batter the roof of reasons for people to hurt as I watch the treason below, there’s more blood on the ground than rain or snow

And when your time is up whether it’s been long or short and it’s over

I’ll water the ground of your grave, and grow you four leaf clovers

I give the ground a leg to stand on, water to drown the sands of time in the mud of today

As you drain your mother dry of natural resources, remorseless, I fill her with new life

The bond between humans and stars is far, if you can’t reach past the sky then you’re bound to fall

And your bound to be forgotten as you splatter on the pavement, drying up like you were never there at all

I feed life from far above what earth down below cannot

While people rot in the ground I grow the next generation

Patient enough to make rough stones turn to dirt, nourishing everything you think is worth eating

I'm dripping from your shirt, beating in your heart

The tears of those that hurt, painting on the world’s green and blue canvas from a cloud pallet, I’m art

The hate from down below me evaporates, it states the fact that those who crush each other deserve to fall like rain, I regurgitate the late sensations straight from decayed mud, and the ones you laid to rest shower their sorrow, doing their best to let you know right from wrong

I am the answer to the beating humanity has earned and constantly gives to itself, I try to wash away the hurt, but I can only clean the skin, not the pain within

Healing feelings burnt when people turned against each other, I came down, proof of your sadness

To stop the madness I’m peeling eyes that learned from sorrow, to see that we are all sister and brother

I taught those eyes to borrow tomorrow and change their destiny, and am life’s mother

I extinguish fires of hate, but I drown you in despair

Sometimes I’m not fair, I keep on coming down hard on your head, cold, because I don’t even care

Blurring the written lines of fate so jokers can paint the truth in the colours of flowers that grew from my teachings

Life is erratic, so change is somatic, there is no destiny only choices, fate is too late to pave a road, I grew forests for you to explore

My tears are bleaching the preaching of every leeching beach beseeching and breaching into the hell you have created

With my colours, sand, the love child of earth and water, rock and rain, grains that humanity spends money to enjoy exist, why would you put a price on something everyone deserves?

I spell life in every sentence, for I am water

I cry, angry, because I hate what humanity has become, war-torn, violent, and it’s only begun

Drowning the world in my sweat, I’m out of breath, it’s work purifying the roads of your concrete jungle

I founded a sanctuary with life to give

But humanity is changing their way to live

My lungs are heaving from yelling at you but you don’t understand, thieving away at today, using up life, and slowly eating away at a world that was green, so now you pay the price

Acid will rain from the sky, and let me tell you, take me seriously, or this earth may die

And maybe you think I’m not needed, maybe you think I am wrong

Maybe you need a strong change to show you you’ve went to far

But I am not evil, I am simply a fact, I lack the ability to hate, you’re the one that creates the weights that bind you

Clouds are my pawns, bonding the horizon together, something humans could never do

I bring down airplanes in my storms when I throw a fit, but we are birds of a feather, humans aren't any better

I simply watch from above while you push and shove and threaten war, so hardcore that you’d bomb each other to bits and leave the earth riddled with cold sores, you don’t give a s**t

Every day, I watch, listen and observe

Because humanity had the nerve to poison the earth and kick sanity to the curb

Realize that rain is clear, just like the human spirit used to be, and just like you’ll clearly be the cause of your own destruction, with your evil, your poisons, and your corruption

I can hear it, the anger in the air, and I fear it won’t be easy to free humanity from the chains that they’ve created

Do I have to be snow to let you know how cold you are and what’s right and wrong though?

Because life gets colder when the beholder sees that life is older than it used to be, and it’s brittle, it’s time could be up at any moment, so you better hold onto it one last time before it breaks

If there is one thing you can rely on though

It is that I will keep falling from the sky, the true guardian of earth

Seeing through your lies, I will birth new life and continue rains legacy, that is simply the best I can be

I will feed you the truth in teardrops from the eyes of those already dead and forgotten, who lack the words to tell you you’ve gone too far

I will keep coming down hard, because someone needs to clean this world of its sins

I will heal this world, and win back life before the pandemonium begins

For I am rain, tears that heal

I’ll cure the pain, and steal back the earth

Because life is worth protecting

A very nice piece of prose in rhyme. I enjoyed the read. I like the personification of the rain and the character you have given it, both refreshing and vengeful...it feels and it heals as it struggles to understand, perhaps the nature of man.

Beatiful words. So much honesty and emotion. I really enjoyed the title and tbe words you used to.describe how it will wash away all the dirt and reclense the earth. Truly and purely beautiful sinister

Exactly, the last line summed it up. You write great prose poems and the personification of rain and water is marvellous, you covered all the aspects of surroundings.
