Less Than You

Less Than You

A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"

I was having a bad day when I wrote the first part of this poem. I've gone through some hard times, and I never got compensation for the pain I felt. What I'd been through. Never got any respect.

"

I'm high on the drugs that keep me sane

So many days pass by that I don't feel any pain

But I do feel anger

I feel robbed

This life wasn't meant to be a competition

And you showing how you’re so much better than me

How you deserve more than me

How you’re worth more than me

And how little I mean to you

How much you’re every complaint matters

And how every crime towards me, every bit of pain I've felt means nothing

And I watch you get fatter

Off the sweet batter that I owned

I'm angry that everything I've achieved means nothing

I'm mad that I'm at the bottom

Looking up at your foot stepping on me and I feel crushed

I rushed to achieve goals that won't be possible

Because I'm no longer your equal

People at the bottom can’t live like those at the top

Living under a rock, pretending to be a feather is only a thought

Down in the mud, we rot, taught to be your property

Living under your thumb, your monopoly leaves others with nothing

Puffing out your chest and pushing smaller men away

There are so many different ways to be at the bottom, forgotten, buried in the dirt, hurt

Be it racism, sexism, money, your intestests, your body, your country, your language, all are forms of prejudice

Drowning new people in misery every day

People who are considered better are surfing off the top of a pool of corpses

No respect for those choking on the fumes of the money you burn

The people you prosecute for being different

The men and women you call you call retards, mental, insane, racial and sexist slurs, useless, homophobic drivel

While you snivel about slight changes that aren’t even a problem for you

And joke about how others are deranged

So you can be happy

And I hope you are happy, on the mountain of corpses

So you can have a pretty view of the world that you refused to share

I hope you’re happy that you can get away with anything and not give a care about those you deem unimportant

I hope you’re happy that you can drink up our dreams and happiness

I hope you're happy as we shrivel up and burn away under the heat of your oppression

I hope you're happy that we’re less than you

I very seldom reply to reviews, but I promise I read EVERY single one. I look forward to my next review, because it helps me learn. Even if it's just one word, I promise, I will be ecstatic to have the chance to hear what you have to say. Whenever you write something about my poems, or the themes of my poems, or criticize me it is not in vain. I will listen, learn and be thankful.

A lot of topics. Whether political or society. Two of which. Are a fav to discuss.. World is a very damaged place. And a hand ful of people with the ability to abuse it and slip by untouched. A terribly sad position to be in. Still never forget your blessings. K ow what they say about counting them. Were lucky to have the luxuries we do. Cause there are others who don't..keep up the writing. I really enjoy it. :-)

Poetry is a great way to release all the troubles you, it is the only way one should self medicate (you cant overdose yourself and the only possible side effects are works of literature). It is also a good writing challenge that can build your writing skills teaching you how to express emotions though the written word which is a great talent to have if you are a writer. You didn't know that a bad day could prove so helpful over time did you? This was an excellent writing lesson that expanded your writing talents and the experience that inspires and educates all who reads it, well done. Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

This poem shows your rage and suffering....I hope you are fine now...I agree with your views that some people feel happy for other's destruction...One can just hope that they realise their mistake and never do that for others...
