Hmm... So few words, yet so deep. But only if one takes the time to think about it.
Water + Earth = Mud
A simple concept, one most children would know. However, what are the implications of this simple concept?
The biggest thing that comes to mind, is the mud house. Which may still be used today (I don't know.) Either way, one of the first types of shelter. Which, as I go deeper, brings me to something else...
Because of the implication of a romantic relationship, I can see a metaphor, one of the shelter and security a pair of loving parents (Earth + Water) to a child (Mud) Similar to the security and shelter of a mud house.
Of course, I could be overthinking and overanalyzing, as I am apt to do. But it is fun to attempt to dig deep into the words, and find the true meaning. Which can be done with few given words, as I have just done.
I am only able to do this because there is a good amount of hidden meanings int= the few words given. So I applaud you. You are quite the wordsmith.

I loved that you actually spent the time to think about it Andrew and I also enjoyed where your mind took it. I really appreciate it.
I am the same when it comes to overthinking things.
Of course I have my meaning to it, but it most certainly means more to me that you put a/ your own meaning to it. That's all I can ask from poetry...
Thank you and that is sincere!

I usually write about things after they pass and I gave them some thought...
The beauty of writing pieces about love is that sometimes a really simple equation can find the answers to the riddle of love. After 1st read I thought, "Wow, is that ALL?" But a second read jumped out at me and the simplicity stripped away all of the artifice and sparkly things and brought the point home in a pleasingly blunt way. Nicely done. take care...dan
I gathered you wrote this a romantic piece, and i can see that, Mud is actually a staple of civilization. True story, with our mud, bricks couldn't be made. So on one hand i see it as a man saying that this relationship is pivotal, carnal and primal. I see it was the elements coming together to give life and create. On the other hand i see two elements that come together and create ... well mud. Messy, dirty mess. Either way i really adore the simpleness of it, and (oblivious) its complexity . Really Awesome

Thank you so much for reading Crystal and I love you insight so much!
It's very abstract, but my first thought went to more of a romantic, but I could see it being interpreted in other ways, too. The last line makes me think of procreation. Is there any reason why "she" was on the earth side and the "guy" (?) on the water side? Thanks for asking me to read this. I'll give this piece a 9.5/10 as an honorable mention.
