Lip Service

The strangest battle ever won.

Nothing comes close to understanding until you paint the picture.

It's hard to describe.

Only coming clear and easy to relate when I read scripture.

Pretty much, I have learned, that it is the only way.

Opposing forces and hostile enemies rotting minds for centuries…

Eons!

Pleading to God that they won’t control mine.

Blinded with my eyes and deaf with my ears,

but I see and hear with my heart and soul.

This I still can't control.

Faith is a solution,

the devil is pollution.

Placing my body in the hands of the power of above 

and not needing an answer.

His works are delivered by me,

It might sound different,

but the essence is the same.

Sometimes I don't know what to do…

A dilemma I am always dealt with,

so I don't do anything,

leave it be.

Lip service,

prayer to seek his will.

When I see people.

I don't see bodies;

I see souls seeking inspiration and hope,

such as I,

for I am not afraid of what is to come to me in life.

For it has a purpose!

Fighting a battle for so long,

but it doesn't belong to me.

For it is not my battle ground.

Although, I feel I am beaten and down,

my head is low,

but my spirit is high for the battle is won

because I was given the word of god!
Not wanting to be as a beggar with asking,

but receiving him.

Standing in a valley of tears and darkness

to get to A valley of blessings!

Yea, triditional poetry is sooooo boring to me, with the exception of a few old poets.
I tend to do it my way and try to allow people to look at it from different view because I don't think true poetry should be place in a box. It should be free like ourselves giving you know how to write...then I believe it's okay to break the rules. Some people can't seem to grasp that yet...

This reads more like a short story than a poem, you might consider put it in paragraphs and presenting it as a story. You could also expand on it and maybe even a series of inspiring stories, there are a number of magazines that I could see publishing this and stories like it. Oh a critique: battleground is one word :~)

It may read that way, but it it still a poem. There are different ways to write a poem and nevertheless it seems to have a box placed over it when it really shouldn't. I have read poems from different time frames and I have learned over the years that there are no rule confined to it once you are equipped with the tools of writing. I have actually had this poem published in a book of poetry as a poem, so I'll just leave it as is.

Well I am no one to push my faith upon people and I think it is wrong when people do. It should be something a person decides on their own... I'm very glad that you did enjoyed it. This is a poem that I wrote ways back and I just wanted to let everyone know where I come from and what truly makes me whole. I needed to remind myself in a sense. And if anyone else might find something in this poem to give them some sense of peace, that's just a plus.
