Lip Service

The strangest battle ever won.

Nothing comes close to understanding until you paint the picture.

It's hard to describe.

Only coming clear and easy to relate when I read scripture.

Pretty much, I have learned, that it is the only way.

Opposing forces and hostile enemies rotting minds for centuries…

Eons!

Pleading to God that they won’t control mine.

Blinded with my eyes and deaf with my ears,

but I see and hear with my heart and soul.

This I still can't control.

Faith is a solution,

the devil is pollution.

Placing my body in the hands of the power of above 

and not needing an answer.

His works are delivered by me,

It might sound different,

but the essence is the same.

Sometimes I don't know what to do…

A dilemma I am always dealt with,

so I don't do anything,

leave it be.

Lip service,

prayer to seek his will.

When I see people.

I don't see bodies;

I see souls seeking inspiration and hope,

such as I,

for I am not afraid of what is to come to me in life.

For it has a purpose!

Fighting a battle for so long,

but it doesn't belong to me.

For it is not my battle ground.

Although, I feel I am beaten and down,

my head is low,

but my spirit is high for the battle is won

because I was given the word of god!
Not wanting to be as a beggar with asking,

but receiving him.

Standing in a valley of tears and darkness

to get to A valley of blessings!

Haha, I too thought that this was about kissing, great play on words there! I love how you see people as "walking souls," I feel like that's how everyone should view others. Maybe there would be less hate/violence in the world? Who knows! I also just loved the flow of this piece, the words almost danced on the page.

The topic expressed in your poem is intriguing. It expresses the true feeling when a body and soul do the task, as communicated by a superior force. Yes, and it is the prominent feature of a pure soul who connects with other soul and try to see that one is shining only. That happens when, as you clearly pointed out, we see souls walking on the road.The concept of One again. Beautiful.

I connect with the emotion of this....being a bit disjointed, intense at times, then calming. The story doesn't flow but then sometimes faith doesn't either. At times we feel close to God and understand his will for our lives and other times we are stuck in our own view and striving so hard for what we want...like the ending of your piece "For it is not my battle ground. Although, I feel I am beaten and down, my head is low, but my spirit is high for the battle is won because I was given the word of god"
To make this piece stronger I would suggest trying to connect the thoughts into a flow from one to another, explain what you were trying to capture a little more, and then chose either rhythm or rhyme or create cohesion.

I'm glad you could connect with it and this one was more of a prayer to me and so I never edited it.
More of a free thought. That's why I named it Lip Service.
I have and still continue to go through things and life and had never lost my faith. The future is never certain and so I pray for his strength to carry me. I know I can have all control or none at all. It all depends where I decide to devote my energy towards.
I do appreciate you spending your time to read and leave me your thoughts.

ahhh a truth seeker indeed, stating the obvious when sometimes it is not so obvious to the masses, we search, we journey on, this ethnosphere becomes a bloody tangled mess, even moreso than it already is and it blocks the damn light, it suffocates and gets a stranglehold just when we inhale the purest of energy, bang then it is gone. What are we left with? Well knowledge I suppose, knowledge to know that what we seek is actually there, it has been all along, it always will be. The funny thing is, we MUST pass through the growth, the learning, the knowledge attained, yes pass through it and then throw it all away, and once we do, we shall know bondage no more, instead we shall know freedom.
