Quasimodo

Quasimodo

A Poem by sinNsincerity

Nothing has ever been bluer

than the black lining

that lays over my

back.

I took a step back

to allow the blues a

moment to display its recap.

The weight of the world

on my shoulders...

Mr. Hunchback!

Wrapping myself within

a black linen while

pretending to be the

hero and the villain.

I’ve been down for

a minute…

Depression,

Here’s a second,

tick, tick, tock…

Talk!

A very creatively thought out premise with Quasimodo serving as a metaphor for those who in some way do not fit in. When depression is upon a person that feeling of alienation is ever present. Not to mention that gigantic weight; carrying the world can prove quite cumbersome. Nicely written! take care...dan

That is a very interesting way of analogizing Quasimodo's predicament with the gravity of depression. I thought that was very original and definitely, heartfelt as usual.

Quasimodo, the partly formed and fully misshapen, fitting the poem well.

Thank you Carrie!
This is probably one of my favorite poems from you thus far. The metaphor with Quasimodo and the black linen are so well woven into the poem, and they're not forced at all. You let those metaphors carry the emotion. You showed and didn't tell. Absolutely wonderful! You should submit this into a contest.

Sin in Sincerity: Clever, great imagery. I enjoyed it very much. Quasimodo, that visual brings forth such honor, but then as history took his gifts away; changed to the "American" way your poem's emotional strenth is powerful - to show depression in that way - great imagery. Thinking of how he must how felt. Well done. Thank you very much. Dale

This is a clever description of depression and being down. I wonder if the Hunchback was really Atlas in disguise? Great creative write Sin.

I just wrote about feeling like the Hunchback too! (Long story)

I can't say I know exactly how you feel..but I can say I relate. Being under the weight of living is the worst some days.

I love the tick tick tock talk part!

Well done! xo :)
