Three Years Ago

I lost myself about three years ago.

And I can’t complain 

because I just stood there and watched him go…

Was it because of me or my super-ego?

I was within -and- out of control.

I made my own disguise by just being myself.

Pretty witty! A brief poem that's meaningful, has rhymes and flow and is totally striking while also leaving some space for the readers to ponder. You've beautifully described someone changing into a new person by using the losing-old-self imagery, it's pretty much like the snakes shedding their skin. It's intriguing when you call him a disguise. Enjoyed this piece.

I totally feel you. It's sort of an enigma isn't it?
I use to be the type that would take a step back and just examine the world around me, but I've learned that there are many steps back to take and view things from various of angles. That has given me a lot of peace. I know to be very open minded, but not to the point where my brain fall out...

There are so many lines in between and those may be sought out if people are curious enough to find out. I like having a sense of mystery about myself and see who it attracts...
