In This Moment

In This Moment

A Poem by Nicholas Hagenschneider

I see you

you’re turned away

i reach for you

i’m kept at bay

i’ve waited

cursed, fought, struggled and begged to stay

once sedated

i watch all the colors fade to grey

you know i want to go back to the start

my heart beats and slows as i’m ripped apart

my soul screams for your touch but my mouth remains shut

my eyes long for you

the sound of the waves crash into my ears, drowning my fears

the smell of the ocean causes my eyes to open

the sight of you brings beauty to mind

your touch brings me back to life
