Summertime TeaA Poem by Jeannie StevensWhen the dogwood bloom in the Springtime air; underneath a tea party isn't so rare.
Tidbits and sandwiches sweeter than honey
Elegantly set on a table quite sunny Tea served in the afternoon's light Can soothe lifes' woes with just one bite Friends and neighbors come and surround Laughter and sipping make lovely sounds Songs from the birds singing high in the tree Add a touch of music for friends and me Wiling away the days strife and strain Some sugar cubes sweeten any cups of disdain One lump or two, whichever you choose Thoughts of our problems we try to lose Ginger snaps, scones, petit fours plenty All served on grandmothers' china so dainty Doilies and lace flourish tablecloths edge Lemon squares for dessert, our final pledge None of my days seem to linger as sweet As ones at tea time when good friends meet So stop by my garden when summers in bloom And please sip some tea, there will always be room © 2016 Jeannie StevensReviews
