The Usual

The Usual

A Poem by Sindu
"

I'm fine..

"

Heart palpitates, convulsing in chest;

stumped transfixed at the cracks.....

spreading out from blast zone.

Wall, bricks and muscles twitch,

mutilated images play the reel.

Past melts into present, burns future.

Nails dig drawing crescent rings,

eyes goad of play within.

Fear, pain

crumbling weakness.....

Inspite of dark and dull thrumming,

mask sits in place, tears untrickling,

never slipping, sealing dust in.

Endearing hands, hugs and warmth

stretch to placate and plea.

As easy it is to clamber, be free

douse in calm cremes and warm glow,

sleep to serenade, self-heal.

weakness crumbles,

fear pains.....

Mask sneers and scowls,

limbs freeze coaxing the warmth away,

hugs and hangs slip, confused,

hurt, however lays promises of help,

silent prayers stuck and sink.

Stranger strangled in sad solitude

Turning on back ask to be left alone,

wishing the opposite but not known.

says " I'm fine."

Thanks a lot, Haley.. that should keep me writing :)
Amazing ,
disguising the crying heart with confidential part...
unfolding the real self wonderfully. The bold font simply suits. ;)

Me too fine here. :D

Thank you so much! it's not easy to unfold the confidential part of the heart, I think.

Yeah, as much we are liking our part in the drama. :D

You are most welcome. :)
The mask can sometimes be so firmly fixed in place that the real feelings and needs are dispensed with as if they don't exist or aren't valid any longer. The mask becomes the person and vice versa but the inner person still cries for its wants and needs.A sure fire recipe for disaster and the prime reason for keeping masks from getting too attached and permanent.

Untrickling is a word...now.

The line thins with the time and the pretense becomes a protection.

A skillful write Sindu.

The words " i am fine" said so casually, used as a pretense, are unmasked within the lines of this poem. It takes guts to admit the right state of mind to people, but it is a must or we will keep living as quarantined lands. :D
