Ch6 - The White CatA Chapter by SinTrustlessSometimes telepathy is the best means of communication...
Purpura sat in his chair in Kipsy's shop.
Kipsy spoke in his normal rushed manner. "We got the entirety of the promised payment. It's always a risk when you take those types of assignments." Kipsy was looking in a log book, before opening an account book. "Alright, we found that name that you gave us. Guy owns one of those street cart shops, apparently it got destroyed. How did you know he needed money for a new cart?" Purpura just sat there, looking at the items in Kipsy's shop. Kispy sighed, "Whatever, we gave him the amount you suggested." Kipsy closed both books, "I have an couple of jobs. One's in that same city, so we'll wait a bit. I do have one you'd really like, but we're having trouble getting the down payment." Purpura looked to Kipsy, inquisitively. "It's a job to take out an entire family. I know that's not normally not your thing. But there are no children. The entire family works as Royal guards. Apparently someone is trying to weaken the royal family... I imagine it's their extended family. Originally it was a contract for a member of the royal family. We turned it down flat, so they sent a new contract. I figured you'd have no issue with some of the royal guard. But now we can't get the down payment... Once we get the payment you wanna take it?" Purpura nodded, he had no problem with guards. As Kipsy knew, Purpura wasn't going anywhere near the Heartless royal family. Not only did he have a personal history with the royal family... The entire royal family were shadow demons. Demons who didn't bleed, no blood flowing thru their veins at all. The royal family, before becoming the royal family, were single-handedly responsible for destroying the once prosperous blood demon kingdom. If ever there was a feud between species, that was a most brutal. Blood demons used blood, it was their weapon, and their saving grace. To then be faced with a species that didn't bleed... Needless to say, the blood demons were massacred. Currently, there was a bounty on any surviving blood demons. That was the only reason he was actually thankful to possess neko traits. Nekos and blood demons were very different species. No one would suspect a neko of being half blood demon. Kipsy spoke again, breaking Purpura's train of thought. "Alright, I've actually got a contract you may like. Family feud, both sides actually hired you. Both are offering similar amounts. Both include notes about the feud, and their 'side' of the conflict. Here's the twist, make it an easy pay day. It's a young couple that sent these in. Young love and all that craziness. They want you to kill the opposite family, so they can be together. You want it?" Purpura thought for a bit, before patting his pocket. "Oh... amount... well... When you break it down... It's about 80 per head." Purpura thought a moment longer before he shook his head no. "No? I wasn't sure. You want to send a reason?" Purpura put his hand out, at about the height of a child. "Ah, very true. Not being paid nearly enough to kill any kids. If they're willing to bump the price up will you take it?" Purpura shrugged. "Alright, give me a minimum number, per head." Purpura thought a moment, before standing and walking over. He set his finger on Kipsy's desk. He wrote with his finger, blood leaving a mark. It read, 'x2' "Double, from both parties?" Purpura nodded, "Alright, got it. On all heads? Or just the kids?" Purpura, wrote 'all'. Kipsy nodded, "Will do. I'll send someone with their deposit to let them know. I had thought you may request more for the kids. I'll let you know what they say. Sadly nothing else good... You should take a vacation. You've been taking weekly assignments for almost a year. You need a break." The blood writing fused back into Purpura's glove, and he walked out of the shop. Purpura eventually returned to his home.
He went inside, it was quiet as always. He went downstairs, and removed his armor. Then he grabbed a pair of pants, changing into them. Finally he walked back upstairs, and looked around. There was a knock at the door. He went over, and opened the door. Standing there was a white haired neko male. The two stared at each other a moment, before Purpura moved and let him in. He closed the door behind the white haired male, and they both walked into the living room. They sat down, just across from each other. The white haired male offered out his hands. Purpura sighed, and gently took them. 'It is good to see you again.' it was telepathy on the white haired male's part. 'And you, Luz.' Purpura responded telepathically. Luz gave Purpura's hands a light squeeze. 'I was hoping you could take a job for me.' Luz requested. 'What is it?' Purpura asked. Luz released one hand, and pulled a small picture out. He offered it to Purpura, who took it, he looked at the back. It had a name, date and time. 'Alright, I'll do it.' Purpura thought to Luz. Luz nodded, 'Is your traveler still working?' Purpura shrugged, and got up releasing the male's other hand. He went over and grabbed a wrist guard. It had a clock on the inside of it, though the clock was stopped. He brought it over, and handed it to Luz. Luz gently took it, examining it. He placed his hand on it, the clock's hands spun rapidly, before settling on exactly 12. Luz offered it back to Purpura, who examined it then set it down. Luz took Purpura's hand, 'Thank you. And do be careful while out. Rose-' 'Jackob told me.' Luz nodded, 'Any word on Black?' Purpura frowned, 'No.' 'You'll find him. Or maybe he'll find you. Do be careful with anything involving him.' Purpura nodded, thinking nothing back. Luz continued, 'I must get back home. Please let me know when you are done.' 'Will do' Purpura responded. Luz released his hand, and got up, walking out. Purpura sat, watching him leave. The weirdest part of living in a society of demons, was that half-siblings weren't just half a different parent. They could be half a different species. Only one of Purpura's siblings had any blood demon. And she was crazy, as many female blood demons were. Purpura had heard of various female blood demons. All went insane, slaughtered entire towns or villages. And were quickly hunted down. His sister only survived due to his mother's pleadings. Always begging Purpura find her, and return her to the institute they'd long ago sent her to. How she kept escaping he wasn't sure. It'd been two weeks, it was time to find her. Before she got herself in trouble... again. © 2015 SinTrustless |
