Empire of Dirt

Empire of Dirt

A Poem by Sin

--I am lost in all this bitter darkness

Fog covers my eyes and destroys my senses--

I cannot feel or see or smell

I cannot escape this blackened hell

I can’t seek help from those unseen

Lost again, still unclean

Confined in a space where I can’t breathe

I feel cold and still can’t grieve

There’s something I lost, months ago

Innocence and peace I will never know

It doesn’t seem so fair, thinking this way

I’ll just have to face another day

Alone and waiting and trying to be free

Beneath all the ash and dirt, I won’t be me.

Demons are here and waiting and hurt

I am the queen of pain, this empire of dirt.

I enjoyed this poem; the somber and desolate nature of your poem is extremely pronounced. I have a weird suggestion. Maybe instead of blackened hell, it's a whitened or sanitized hell. It denotes a contrast that could really bring out the rest of the poem. Just thinking out loud on that one. Thanks for sharing!

Poem is hard and cold. The tone of the poem isn't fear. Sort of accepting what they feel. I like the usage of your words. Made the poem a pleasure to read. No wasted words and to the point. A excellent poem.
