Behind Her Eyes

Behind Her Eyes

A Story by Janice
"

A poetic story

"

Her eyes were now the color of death

Her sighs now heard beneath her breath

So sad, so quiet, was her soul

Flashbacks of that night would soon take their toll

The thought of how her twin would die

The thought of how she heard her scream and cry

For the life they meant to take should have been her own

A robbery and rape gone terribly wrong with in her home

Her twin sister had stopped over to visit with her

While at the door outside she heard from within a shuffling stir

She quickly opened the door to find

They cut her out her twins eyes, and left her bloody, naked and blind

This way she could never again be capable to identify them

To be sentenced and left to rot in prison to be forever condemned

Her twin sister now witnessing what they had done

Had screamed out loud, so they drew their gun

They shot her down in cold blood where she had stood

Then they quickly ran out the front door and back to their hood

The other twin who once again had eyes

Woke up after her surgery to her surprise

The surgeon told her that she will once again see

Because a wonderful gift was given from a loving member of her family

Yes, those eyes that are now the color of death…

Were donated from her twin sister upon her last breath.
