When The Weeping Willow CriesA Poem by JaniceWhen the Weeping Willow Cries Her cries so lonely and silent that only she can hear As the winds blow through her she begins to shed her fallen tears Slowly they drip to the ground like translucent rain And upon her roots she will always feel their true pain Through the dirt her veins now fed Around her truck her leaves will shed And every fallen leaf has tale to tell Of the grieving willows living hell Her mate tall and handsome with branches thick and green Had died a sudden death that was so unseen Lighting came crashing down from a cold and stormy night And struck him down with all it’s vigor and it's might He fell with a thunderous crash unto the ground next to her Screaming out with pain as he suffered With one last breath he whispers a faint sound Praying his one last wish would also soon be found A seedling now sprouted before the willows eyes A new born son growing next to where his trunk now lifelessly lies Her long and dangly branches embrace his new birth With tears of joy falling down upon the moist dark earth The seedling slowly begins to shrivel as his mother begs for rain to fall from the sky Along side his dead father he also now lies I'm still awakend each night by the lonely whimpering sounds When the Weeping Willow Cries
