The Flames Of The Fire.

The Flames Of The Fire.

A Poem by Kate

The Flames Of The Fire.

The flame is burning at its hottest,

It attracts us like a moth to light,

We comprehend that it is foolish,

Though this fact fails to stop us.

Our fascination with this dark delight,

Is masochism at its essence,

That we would knowingly torture ourselves,

Time and time again.

The flames embrace us,

They invite us to our demise,

They are inviting and comfortable at first,

When we realise what is truly happening,

It is too late.

Then we fall victim to the terrible power of the flames,

And perish.

And, knowing this,

We, as humans,

Return to the arms of the flames.
