A twisted love

A twisted love

A Poem by Simone Davis
"

Pure love or no love, abandonment by the most important powerful person in your life all because you asked them not to smoke or do weed around your child ( feelings are true but story is made up)

"
Hidden
Locked from sight
Am I really that repulsive you wish to hide
Shackled with ropes so tight
Wounded and bleeding
Oh how I long to be carefree and wild

Vile, disgust etched upon your face
Trousers hang loose from the waist
No dignity or love infinity
Resting in your rejection
Look at your own reflection

You who carried me
You gave me life
Innocent child you boasted to like
Behind the smiles you close that door
I’ll let you guess what was in store

Preparing
I will await your fate and triumphant at the ultimate escape

When a parent finds pleasure in addiction and rejects its responsibilities, a child is left to fend for itself that is the most heartbreaking situation! You have written beautifully about a social issue, that needs much attention.

If there's a positive in this poem. It's the vile contempt of drugs you have. Some weak people think drugs are cool. They should put that on their gravestones. Freedom is a time away. Great poem.

yes! it is a twisted love when the parent becomes so addicted that love is buried deep ...it becomes twisted ..and it is twisted when the child struggles to love the parent that is supposed to be something else ...the conflict of guilt and abandonment i imagine can effect both ..the parent abandoned by hope and the child by the parent ... so many children suffer so ... many with no addictions involved ...are latchkey children .. left alone all day to fend as parents are working and can not afford a sitter ... a sad and difficult situation no matter how one cuts it :(

this has left me feeling funny inside.......or maybe that's my painkillers kicking in.....no i think you have touched on a subject i turn away from and deny ......i have no family through death and through separation due to not seeing eye to eye....i was mistreated hugely mentally as a child.......it scares me to think about what your words mean.......

so ....on that basis that you have stirred that emotion in me .....i must say you have written well and really nailed it.....whatever it is...well done my friend.

Your title obviously hints at what we're about to read. As your poem seems to imply, a "twisted love" is what we might call it when we still "love" someone who has hurt us or rejected us. It's how our brains try to rationalize what's otherwise irrational behavior. Of course, it's more complicated if the other person is an addict (drugs, alcohol, etc.), and their brain chemistry is changed.

I especially like how you end this poem. It's a show of confidence and strength, telling the other person (and yourself) that you're better off without them. Nice work.

Amazing and great expression on your part. Sometimes we feel like we come at a crossroad when dealing with our loved ones and its truly frustrating. So many questions run through your mind about why this is or how it happened. Yet, I think the answer to the struggle can come from your resolve not to quit or at least someone near you that won't give up on you. :) For me, I can't look down on someone or trash someone I cherish and respect because that's not who I am. Keep writing and moving forward. I can't wait to read more of your work. good luck

This is another difficult and sad subject. If I read correctly this is about a mother and daughter. The relationship as your title suggests is twisted. You have voiced the feelings of abandonment some are subjected to. I will leave the tweaking criticism to those with experience. Just know message received and it is hard, but must be said. Excellent write, my friend (((hugs)))
