You will not win

You will not win

A Poem by Simone Davis

Un wanting hands caress my breasts
Your face smug with glee
Your taking away my purity

Invading my mind body and soul
You seek your possessions
Can’t control your actions
an object of allure and serenity

Whisper words that make you cringe
Holding onto emotion you dare not show
Doesn’t mean you want it though

Fear and shame awaits me
Every flash back haunting me
A ghost so ghastly I will never be free, even though your hell bent on torturing me

Year by year you kidnap me
I really can’t escape your energy The moment I left, you followed me
At my disgust I cuddled thee
My inner thoughts you’ve poisoned me

You will not win
Yes you’ve broken me that
Doesn’t mean I can’t be set free

I will make you see

Your poem felt like it was twisting my expectations into knots. As one who grew up with years of childhood abuse & rape, I could not help but read the "imprisonment" in your message as this. I hear someone trying to get up the courage & the reason your poem put me in knots is becuz I feel this narrator is not quite determined enuf to really break free. There's some aspect of surrender, even tho your words seem to be fighting against it. I honestly wonder if this narrator really will break free. The mark of excellent writing is when you can play with very fine threads of understanding & emotion, like this (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

All things are possible and it’s not over until ‘the fat lady sings’( figure of speech)- all learning to teach the top with craggy ledges along the way- I like your determination to come out ontop-🌹

Very articulate poem, on abuse and its effects. I appreciate the fighting spirit and hope at the end of this poem. Well done, my friend.

Thankyou for your review
This is such a sad subject, but you did it justice with this poem. I loved that throughout the narrator, though scarred was determined to not let them win, really lovely. Such a touching poem - though I would suggest putting a warning in the title or description, since such a poem could be quite upsetting to real life victims. Thank you for the read request, I look forward to reading more of your works.

I am very sorry to hear that. Thank you for taking the time to write your poem and to send me a read.. read more
always an important subject to be brought into the open ..the picture i get is one of a very lopsided relationship that is abusive in every way it can be...sexual, mental and emotional ..invading even to a persons spiritual self ..what i like the most is the courage and resolve to get shut of it in your closing ..straight forward and plain speech work to create stark images and strong emotions ..such a tear to my cheek simba ..thanks for sharing this

I appreciate your candor about your situation and the emotion you have throughout your poem. I can tell you've endured a lot of struggle here and your still going on. Your stronger than you give yourself credit for and I think you can only go up from here in life. I'd say the light of life is the resolve within our spirit. :) Keep writing and transforming.
