![]() Daily commuteA Poem by Simone Davis
I sit alone white noise fills the air
I can smell the pollution Across the way a shrunken prune wearing her downey grey hair puts on her glasses she cradles her crafts she chose so intricately from this seasons sale she glances intensely reading the previous days events. Behind her a stubbly stubby man hands preying tightly eyes faced forward observes the days plight scarf wrapped tightly around his neck almost suffocating him heavy breathing and stale breathe he takes in a deep sigh To the left an eerie row of empty seats, still warm from the latest arrivals departure A couple clasp each other’s hands holding on so tight as if to say they something terrible will happen if one lets go Sadness etched across their faces I wonder why the despair To the rear two beautiful brunettes laugh with joy and vibrant cheer chatting about the beginning of their new year The light grows dark and lights blare brightly just an average journey in our daily commute © 2018 Simone Davis |
