Autumn to Wintertide

Autumn to Wintertide

A Poem by Simone Davis

Orient sky’s laced in blue
stubborn leaves hang to their mothers
blankets of frost illuminate
cold icy particles fill the air
I can no longer breathe
heavier and heavier my pulse is rising
taking it in my stride
fists clenched tightly
Icicles stem from my cold hollow eyes
wrapped up tightly
Autumn to Wintertide

Beautiful and somber. Elegant words. Fantastic imagery. Small in quantity but a masterpiece

Eloquent, beautifully written poem. Lovely flow, language and stark imagery. I felt the bleakness and harshness of winter in your words. “Icicles stem from my cold, hollow eyes”- superb line. I actually felt cold reading this. Well-done!
