Busy Minds

Busy Minds

A Poem by Simon J Halliday

Busy Minds

Busy minds this time of year
As Christmastime again draws near
And different values in each heart
Some drawn together, some torn apart

Face up to what the new year brings
For some will hide despite what sings
A host of angels gazing down
Upon each head a thorny crown

We all have struggles and want to win
Each day a new round will begin
But temper this with kindly ways
Attract more goodness in the maze

A door to open, smiles to bring
A lonely soul to take in wing
A moment to reflect on all
The meanings of what may befall

The complex web is growing tight
The prayers have reached a dizzying height
And in the midst of all that binds
Be sure to calm those busy minds

You have crafted a wonderful piece.
Love these lines most:
"We all have struggles and want to win
Each day a new round will begin"
You may find a smaller word for "dizzying" to make the sentences similar.
