Today's Poem

Higher Things

Think beyond the things of earth

This place where we were given birth

For daily something new life brings

Yet still beyond are higher things

No matter how amazed we are

At each computer, house or car

Another change one day will come

So soon things shift, too fast for some

So what's the answer in this place?

Has anyone claimed to win the race?

Of course that's not the goal down here

We have to learn to grow past fear

And since we knew right from the start

Our lives were merely works of art

When these are done we'll take our wings

At last to reach those higher things
