Today's Poem

Beyond This World

Beyond this world there's so much more
But most of us won't leave this shore
We're here until our final day
And only then we'll fly away

Then let's be glad for what we've got
Although it may not seem a lot
For every day brings something new
The challenge of life keeps leading you

To places you may not have thought
Experience which hard times have wrought
And then with hindsight you will see
The reasons for what came to be

And what then of the journey on
When time spent here has finally gone
Well this, my friends, depends on how
We use our time right here and now

Don't be deceived to think these days
Mean nothing at all, for diligence pays
And when at last the future's clear
We'll travel beyond, so far from here

"Mean nothing at all, for diligence pays"-- that line struck out to me the most-- But I love the tone of voice that rises up from this poem-- so calm, so serene-- and the imagery is beautiful. Nice!
