Life's Web

Life's Web

Amidst the twists and turns life brings
Remember that an angel sings
And all is possible, power is there
Ignore the thought that life's not fair

For tempting is the word which moans
And tells us we're just skin and bones
But well we know there's more than this
From dust we rise, we're seeking bliss

And friends are all around, unseen
Some hide for now but some are keen
We need their help, so let it come
You know pride sees the ruin of some

Within the words and thoughts which spin
We need to see pure hope begin
So take great care in what you read
And whose advice you choose to heed

Indeed no soul can know it all
Yet listen now, prevent a fall
For whilst both rich and poor still quest
Life's web spins on - what happens next?

Particularly loved this stanza - (and it reminded me of Maya Angelou's poem 'Still I Rise').

Very nice poem - I enjoyed reading it. Great pace / rhythm to this too.
Nice work :)

You're welcome :)
"Indeed no soul can know it all/Yet listening could prevent a fall" -- I feel a stutter in my stomach as I read the second line here, perhaps some "advice [we] choose to heed" could be appropriate here...something like "Indeed no soul can know it all/Yet listen, I repel the fall"

I say, sir, this is a lovely poem. Are you related to Mark Halliday? He is quite a poet. I like the grandeur here, and i think you've penned a really nice piece. your voice is familiar in its rhythm, like a lullaby of the past, but that's the nature of "life's web," familiarity voices itself throughout our lives in unexplainable ways, yet somehow it is both comforting and new/exciting all the same. Thanks for sharing, Simon, I really enjoyed this.
