The GameA Poem by Simon J HallidayToday's Poem
The Game
For some 'enough' does not exist They can't play chess, draughts, bridge or whist The only game they play is money Try making jokes, they'll say 'not funny' I've seen so many that think they're right They think that everything is 'tight' They scoff when people try to dream Their only friend, the income stream And games, such games! As if they're fun The winner has never really won For there's another round to come And then another - who knows the sum? So from this point just be aware That evil lives and breeds out there As subtle as snakes in fancy dress For all to see, a laughable mess But play the game if ever you need For money won't always bring you greed These folk might sometimes help you out And when you win just smile, don't shout (c) Simon J.
