White the Color of Death

White the Color of Death

A Poem by Hunter C. Brown

White,
The color of clouds,
Paper,
And Death.
When most think death,
They think,
Black.
But no,
Death is White.
What is the color your skin turns after death,
White.
What is the color of the blood freezing snow,
White.
What is the color of the bones inside of us that are exposed after death,
White.
So tell me,
Why do we make Black take the abuse,
Of being known as death,
When White,
The perfect child in other words,
Is the real symbol of death.
Why do we?

Don't be unsure about this poem. It is thought provoking. Black is related to death in most minds; black like creeping shadows, but death does not sneak up on us, it does not take us by surprise, or happen suddenly. Death is the only thing we are promised, it is the only thing to be expected.

That is so true, and I never thought of it before. Nicely written and such a valid point~

I never really thought of white being the color of death, but it does make sence. The doctors during the plague wore white clothes and masks. Opened my mind. Well done.
