Broken Record

Broken Record

A Poem by Silverwolf
"

A spinning record, playing beautiful music, that finally shatters.

"

Spinning in circles,

Never realizing where I’ve been.

Cracks and scratches,

Cover my skin.

You were, I Want to Hold Your Hand.

Now I’m, Yesterday.

We were, Endless Love.

Now you’re, Somebody That I Used to Know.

Your soul was acoustic.

Your touch, electric.

With a soulful smile.

Your new notes are falling flat.

You were the melody.

I was the chorus.

We were a harmony.

Our love, a symphony.

The needle digs into my skin.

Scratching at my heart,

The same way you did.

Still spinning, spinning, spinning.

I ache for the sound,

Of the music we made.

You’ve moved on,

And ask why I haven’t done the same.

You’re a siren,

A sweet smile on your face,

Voice coated in temptation,

Luring me to your place.

I stop spinning,

Skipping through every song.

I stop breathing,

This broken record has spun for too long.

AAAAAHHH SO GOOD. I thought the term "broken record" was pretty cliche going into this but I really enjoyed this poem's take on it.
