Next to You

Next to You

A poem about being next to the one you love.

Next to You

I would carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, just like your sleepy head,

And I would suffer any amount of heart ache, just like I get when you’re not around,

For just one reason,

To be next to you.

You’re the girl that occupies my mind,

And who won’t let me sleep at night.

But that’s okay with me,

Because then I get to feel like I’m next to you.

I’ll be a trouble maker,

And I don’t mind breaking a couple rules.

As all that rule breaking,

Is done by me and you.

I’ll do any stupid old thing,

No matter how embarrassing.

I’ll dance sloppily under the moonlight,

As long as you’re the one dancing with me.

And I don’t mind,

Making a fool out of myself.

But only if I get to act like a fool,

For you.

Now we’ve been friends for such a long time,

But at this point it’s a bit of a charade.

Because I like you and, and you like me,

So let’s let the world see, what it means to be a dynamic duo, and what it means to be you and me.

Please pop that bottle,

Of cheap love-filled cider.

We’ll drink it down, we’ll make a toast,

A toast to love, a toast to best friends falling for each other.

And if the day comes where you don’t feel like doing anything,

We can kick back and you can do nothing with me.

Because nothings worth doing,

If it’s not being done next to you.

So beautiful what do you say?

Usually words just get in our way, but love not today.

Cus’ now I’m writing from my heart,

Telling you we can do anything, and long as I do it next to you.
