Warm Me Up

I’ve spent the winter

All by myself

Just wishing for some company

I only wish that I could’ve seen

That you are all that I need

You’re the only fire

That I want to feed

Lighting the fuse on my heart

Burning me up like a fireworks show

Making me so hot I start to glow

You’re my campfire

You’re a wildfire

You’re the fire blazing in my heart

Igniting my veins like my blood’s made of gasoline

I’ve been frozen for too long

But now that I’m with you I feel like singing an old love song

You light up the nighttime

And burn away the shadows

Keeping the cold away

So darling warm me up and promise that you’ll always stay

I love the use of fire in this poem, I took it as a symbol of happiness, and the feelings you recieve from someone you love. Transitioning from hot to cold gave me the sense of being numb and really made the description of cold sad, and painful in contrast to te heat. Also, the line "I only wish that I could've seen" is powerful because there truly is regret when you are missing someone because you may have made a mistake, and you would do anything to try again. I can relate to this, great work.
