Princess of Heartbreak

A poem about broken love

Princess of Heartbreak

It’s looking like the end of all eras

All the birds have flown

Away

And the wolves howl at an empty sky

Atlas has released his burden

Ra’s trip across the sky is over now

The game we played is all done, with pieces broken and scattered across the floor

And the only winner is you

Rip me up and cast me in the pit

Because I’ve let this trophy go

Winning seems just so pointless

Now that you’ve flown away leaving me with broken wings

A cascade of poison tears

Flows down meeting the lipstick stains on my cheek

Your breath once vanilla sweet

Now reeks of carrion from the hearts you eat

You who is royalty treasured by the people

With your cyanide smile

A princess sitting on a throne of lies

With ruby red jewelry made from my used love

A demon puppeteer

Born from hellfire

I’ve cut my own strings

Just trying to get away from you

You played your game so well

Once sugar turned salt

I’ve given up love all together

And you’re who I have to thank, The Princess of Heartbreak

I liked it. Your choice of words was superb. I'm rather new to poetry, but this work has given me some more inspiration. 95/100 (because there's always room for small, or big, improvements to any piece).
