Breath on a Mirror

Breath on a Mirror

A Poem by Silverwolf
"

A poem about lost love

"

Breath on a Mirror

Memories whisked in on a wind

Filled with feelings of splendor and ecstasy

Gone as quick as they come

Leaving only loss in their place

Love once held so close to the heart

Blows away

Like smoke through my finger tips

As I attempt to reclaim it only to have it escape my grasp once again

Gone, is the fire that once flooded my veins

They lay cold and dormant now

Gone, is that sparkle in my eyes

They now rest in a stone-like face, dull and lifeless

Isn’t it strange?

That love once locked in a canary’s cage

Can evaporate so suddenly

Like breath on a mirror

Really amazing analogy - the life we live, the love we seek - isn't it all strange? Shouldn't those feelings be easier to hold onto? How can they evaporate so suddenly as you write here! Maybe if we trace an image into the breath on the mirror we can hold onto it a little longer :)

Oh, wow. This is a wonderful poem, so sad. I loved the last line, it was a brilliant way to describe the feeling.
