Twisted

A heartbreak poem

TWISTED

I made the mistake

Of offering my heart for you to take

You eagerly accepted with your Odysseus smile

You invited me in, to stay a while

You had a serpent’s grace

Your innocent eyes shining like gemstones in your angelic face

However you were anything but

Because the moment I smiled back, you severed my heart strings in one swift cut

Your true nature shown

I laid in the dust, my heart in pieces, and my soul heavy like a stone

You my devil puppeteer

Took all I had leaving me in tears

Now I’m in a personal hell

So far down no one can hear me yell

I try to warn them but it’s all in vain

With a Cheshire grin you watch me toil in pain

Now that I’m without you my lungs seem void of all air

But with you, the curse of Tantalus only lets me stare

Your beauty is a ruse

I now know that when you offer I should refuse

You’ve driven me mad

But you seem to be glad

You smile like Satan as you misuse my love

Twisting my soul, making me demonic, never again able to rise above
