Look At Me DaddyA Poem by OtsanaLook at me Daddy Look at me daddy, I am your little girl You might not believe it but I am your little girl Why do you have to deny the part I play in your life Can you honestly not see the pain it causes me? That ache inside my heart like it’s being torn apart but you will never care because what you can’t see equals nothing there
But please look at me daddy, I am here and I am real My lungs are swollen from screaming “LOOK AT ME, I AM REAL” I know you know because people say it shows “those eyes” they say as they look at my miserable face So all I am asking is that you give me one chance To show you that I am worthy, not just a mistake of your past
Why can’t you look at me daddy, do you think that I am not good enough? what about all your other children, are they good enough? They must be or else why would you love them more than me My green monster of jealousy is growing, tell me, are you happy? Do you enjoy watching me suffer for that piece of you Which for some not good enough reason you refuse to offer
All I ask is that you look at me daddy, see the tears I shed The pools of water which I leave on the pillows of my bed All those nights which I sat up and cried, wishing to see your face Wondering in my mind if it looks anything like mine But I guess the truth is that you’ve never cared about that one little girl The one who begged to be seen by a daddy she fantasized in her dreams
Do not look at me daddy but for once, see me for who I am I am that little girl you let slip out of your foolish hands © 2015 OtsanaAuthor's Note
