An unexpected friendsA Chapter by Silverwolf
I stared at the black canvas which was the night sky, it was adorned with twinkling stars that sat next to a full moon, I sighed and thought to myself,
'Is one of them stars my mother, or even my father... no, I refuse to lose hope' at least on my father, he could still be alive, but my mother,I saw what happened... When she was slaughtered that day, that terrible day. "It's been 3 years, Dawn, please, for your clans sake, let go" The Beta of midnight clan, Shadow, asked. A tear fell down my soft silver fur, and fell off the cliff I was looking over. I refused to reply, and walked off into my den. The next morning I woke up early and the pack was not awake yet, except for those who were on night duty, so i decided to take a stroll through the woods that surrounded our territory. As the alpha of the Midnight clan, I was in charge of announcements, who got most food and also who was accepted or kicked out of the clan, so I had no time to myself, even if i tried, Shadow insisted on a fellow wolf coming with me, I am the Alpha for a reason after all. I walked out of my den, my paws feeling the undergrowth, then I ran, fast and silently. In a matter of minutes, my den was a green and brown spec in the distance, I walked, enjoying the small tentacles of light slivering through the canopy of trees, I looked left and right, then ran, heading to my secret pool, loads of twists and turns were needed and then you had to battle the thick undergrowth, and lastly the traps that had been placed by myself. Firstly, the turns, left, left , right, duck, left, right, right. Second, the undergrowth, avoid being tangled, then worry about being prickled, spiked and maimed by the multiple thorns, spikes and sharp branches. Finally, my traps, these were easy as I knew what they were and how to dodge them, poison spikes, duck, pit fall, jump, giant swinging log, duck, net, run, trip wire, jump, now for the final manoeuvre, jump, tuck, land and roll to avoid putting pressure on the trap set below the damp ground. Finally I was at the pool, I walked to the crystal clear pool and stared in it my emotions clear in the water but not in my face, I heard a rustle of leaves and a small yelp, I then realised a small wolf pup had found there way into the thorns and bushes, I snook up behind the the little fur ball and growled "Do you have a reason for being here" I growled, the poor thing yelped and would have stumbled backwards had he not been tangled in vines, but he was obviously scared as his tail was between his legs, "Please don't hurt me, please, I'm sorry!" He whimpered "It's ok young one, I will cut the vines holding you aloft, but then you must find your mum and dad, ok?" I said, then I cut him free, he whispered thank you and ran off. I carried on enjoying the warm tendrils of light shining on my body. Then I heard another rustle, and a low growl this time, I sigh and think to myself 'Can anywhere be sacred?' I go see who else fell prey to my traps, "And do you have a good reason for being here?" I said, not bothering to sound angry, just wanting them to hurry up and get out of here, so I can relax in peace. "I don't have to give you a reason" he growled "Oh moody, guess I will just have to leave you hanging there" I replied, his face twitched slightly. "Bye" I added for emphasis "Don't just leave me here" he whined "And if I don't?" "I'll tear you to bits" he smiled menacingly when he said that whilst baring his teeth, "Really, well you won't get anywhere in that state, and also..." I stepped into the light, he gasped "Silver fur, Emerald green eyes" he muttered then his gaze shot to my chest "Diamond necklace... It's you, Dawn, The Silver huntress we of the Sun clan were told to run when we saw you, you are the daughter of Dusk, The midnight warrior and, Selena, The Silence. "Still confident? I mean if you were told to run, well you kind can't can you?" "I can still tear you to shreds, I will just escape from these vines" he snarled, and then he started attacking the vines with his teeth and claws "I really wouldn't do that if I were you" I laughed "What's so funny? you watch me get out of these" and he started attacking once more, then I saw the vines weakening "3...2...1" I muttered, then a quiet snap was heard; he was free. He landed on the floor below him "Haha I told you I could get free" "Your not going to be free for long are you" his reply was drowned by the sound of leaves rustling, twigs snapping and me laughing, he fell down my pitfall. I looked down into the pit, it wasn't what I expected him to do; cling on to the sides of the pit his claws digging in the mud, I extended my paw, he looked confused "Take it" I offered, "Why?" He asked, wow could he get any thicker? "Because I don't need traps to beat you, I want to fight you one on one, or are you too scared to fight the silver huntress?" I mocked "I'm not scared" he replied and then took my paw, I hauled him up and as soon as his paws landed on the grass I jumped backwards and waited for the first strike, it came. He aimed for a bite at my throat, I sidestepped it easily, he growled and lunged at me claws extended, I jumped leaving him to snap at the air, I landed "Really, that's everything you can do?" I asked then my ears pricked up, I dived on the wolf in front of me sending him flying into a nearby bush "Shut up" I snapped at him, I was still in the clearing.
