Who Am I supposed To Be?A Poem by Silver TreeI'm in a world lost, ignored. Never accepted by a community that looks like me. Why? All my differences stressed by my peers. Looked over by mainstream eyes. They don't care, so why do you? Yes, I'm reading a book. Not committing a crime. But if I point this out, I'm the elitist. State of things, enough to depress me. And I'm a woman pushed down even further. My existence denied unless I'm willing to copy sensational, 'reality' tv stars. Am I not important? Can't look at me unless I'm setting myself back? © 2013 Silver Tree |
