Shattered

Shattered

A Poem by SilverTearRusted

Shattered... memories, dreams
A childhood masked in promise
A bittersweet release

I am nothing more than shards of glass
But when I put myself back together
It's a distorted shell at best

Yet somewhere in the slivers
Pricking painfully at my soul
Are the tear drops of wanton love
I was never able to let go

I may not believe that I deserve him
Or know exactly what I've done right
But I will not turn away
Now that I have him in my sight

His gaze is like sunkissed moonlight
His touch like lightening in the wind
His lips like fire in the ocean
And it's where my life begins

For I belong to every moment
Until our final days are done
I am his without condition
And he is my forever love
