Artemis

Artemis

A Poem by Elina
"

An older poem of mine. It isn't marvelous, but I'm still fond of it. (The image is actually of Arianrhod, the Celtic goddess of the moon and stars, and was painted by Selina Fenech)

"

My Lady of the moon's pale gleam;

O! Bow-woman, Huntress of the glade,

Goddess of purity, let me glean

From you the innocence of the Maid.

Your still presence, calm and sweet,

Does upon mine tattered soul whisper

Words of solace. Come upon me, lest I weep!

Yae, e'en in bitterness do I heare thy soft purr.

Artemis, ah my queen, save me from my doom.

Curse the haughty wretch, but, prithee, bless the meek.

I see you crowned in silver, my blessed spirit moon.

I see your wond'rous splendor, whilst with grace you speak.

I want to set this in an early Regency Theme of writing. Those end days of the Bucks and The Blades.

I feel like your invoking a muse here, I say run with it and see what sweet songs Artemis will sing you.

Thank you.
You are very good at changing your style. Nice Greek-style, modernized somewhat, but paying homage to the ancient style. I liked it greatly.

Thank you very much.
The structure of this with the rhyme...
does not hinder, in the line...
yet this reads as a plead to the goddess...

Thank you very much.
I can see why you would account this among your favorites. Poetry is foreign to me as a whole, but I enjoyed it and found it touching upon the time of the gods.
