The Voice Inside

The Voice Inside

A Poem by Kristina Bree
"

Think slowly to yourself while you read this

"

It says what it wants me to say
It tells me what it wants me to think
It says what it wants me to do
It tells me the secrets I don’t want to know

I try not to listen to it
But the voice is strong and does not give up easily
I try to do other things
But the voice is persistent in its taunting

It pushes harder and harder
But I am also strong, stronger than the voice.
It pushes me over the edge
But I make it through without a scratch

I become stronger
    It becomes stronger with me
I tell it to leave me alone
It tells me to leave it alone

It slowly fades away
I do not feel the persistence anymore
But I feel empty
It took a piece of me along with it

About
I live in Montana, the very cold state right now, in which snow does not seem to go away. I love the way books sound and make you dissapear into a world not your own and the way poetry makes you think.. more..
