Veil of Fear

Veil of Fear

A Poem by SilverFish
"

panic !

"
Enclosing, the sound of high pitched strain,
clenching teeth, uneasy tongue, edge bitten.
Same old pain triggered; misty veil, to feign.
Bleeding out; a thousand times before 'twas written.

A lament, a song of looking beyond, too far.
Dreaming takes me away, but puts me in its box.
Alas, to not see things for what they really are,
swallowed by liquid reality, and melting clocks.

This write had so many different layers of meaning for me. The first stanza has an intensity to it, epitomizing signs and symptoms of fear. The second stanza offers a story of broken dreams or deception perhaps. Last line had a reference to melting clocks, which reminded me of a painting by Salvador Dali. A complex poem that I enjoyed reading as it left me with something to think about for quite a while ! Well written :) Penny
