Chapter 1- Blast from the Past

Chapter 1- Blast from the Past

A Chapter by MirageDreamer

“Hey Lunar where are you?” Called a boy.

He had dark silver hair tipped with lighter silver, silver eyes, and he had on brown pants, a silver shirt with a white moon on it, and he had a bow and arrows on his back, the bow had about eight inches of wood left after where the strings were attached, and those eight extra inches on each end were sword handles, and he had on a silver bracelet with a crescent moon on it.

“Up here Noch.” Called Lunar from up in a tree.

Now her hair went down to her knees, but still was braided.  She still had the streaks of silver and bright blue in it, she still had the face of a goddess, and her necklace and daggers, those were at her waist, her silver bracelet with a crescent moon on it, and now she had on black pants, a long tight black shirt, and a long black stick on her back, both ends could come out, and they were swords with silver blades.  Lastly she had a thin silver chain around her head that had a silver crescent moon dangling from it, and two smaller stars on either side of it.

“Lunar, you have to come down, your parents want to talk to you for some reason.” Called Noch up as Lunar poked at a bunch of leaves.

She pocked at them a little more then she said “Star come out of there, we have to go now.”

Then suddenly a small pure black kitten, with three fluffy tails that slowly changed to light blue, shot out.  It had light blue eyes, silver wings, its paws slowly changed from the black of its body to silver, and lastly on its forehead there was a pure white eight pointed star, and a silver thin chain around its neck that also had a silver eight pointed star on it.

Since she had come darting out so fast Lunar lost her balance and fell back.

Noch quickly ran over and caught her, “Lunar are you ever going to stop doing things that are so dangerous?” asked Noch as Lunar laid on top of him.

Then Star flew over and Lunar sat up on the ground and pat her head and said mischievously as Noch sat up “Star did you hear that you have to stop doing things that are so dangerous or else Noch is going to worry about you.”

“Lunar you never change,” said Noch with a firm face.

As he said that Lunar put on an innocent look then asked “What are you talking about?”

Noch looked at her with a firm face for a little longer then a smile broke out and he said “How can I stay mad at someone who’s so cute.”

Lunar looked at him as if she was about to go off and do something dangerous again, but instead she got up then helped Noch up as she asked “So what did they went to talk to me about?”

“I don’t know,” said Noch as they both headed toward the shrine.

The shrine was a huge silver house that had three small roofs, and one bigger one in the middle, with a black wall around it.

Lunar, Noch and Star were on their way to the shrine when they ran into a man, woman, and boy.

Lunar noticed that they looked a lot like the king, queen, and prince, but she thought that that would be too much of a coincidence.

“Oh, hello, could you two please direct us to the Shrine of the Moon?” asked the man.

“Oh, sure,” said Lunar, as they all headed for the shrine.

When they got there they the woman said politely “Thank you very much.”

Then the boy asked “So do you two live here?”

“Yeah,” said Noch as they went through the gate, and a small dragon the size of a tiger pounced on Lunar.

Then boy put his hand to his sword, after all he had never actually seen a dragon, then he calmed down when Lunar began to laugh and said “Crescent, stop that.”

The dragon was bright blue, with purple wings, silver claws, bright green eyes, its tail had three small rainbow feathers that it could harden into spikes, and it had a thin silver chain with a silver full moon and a black stone that made the silver look a crescent moon.

Then when Noch helped Lunar up Crescent looked at the boy and growled.  “Crescent, don’t be rude,” said Lunar, as Star sat on top of the dragon’s head.

Crescent stopped growling, but seemed to glare at the boy.  “Sorry, he’s not usually like that,” said Noch as Lunar quietly told him to ‘stop it or else’.

Suddenly Lunar’s parents came out of the shrine, her mom had long light purple hair that went down to her waist, gold eyes, and she had one a pure black dress with a silver crescent moon on it.

Her dad had silver hair, gold eyes, and he had on all black with a silver crescent moon on his shirt.

“Oh, Lunar, I see you already met Solor’s family,” said her mom as both Lunar and the boy looked at each other in shock.

“Dad, mom did you two know about this?” asked Solor to his parents.

“We thought that it would be a pleasant surprise to you,” said his father with a smile.

Lunar’s expression didn’t change, it was a shocked, and in some ways scared, and upset looked.  “Mom, dad, why is he here exactly?” asked Lunar to her parents as Solor thanked his.

“Why don’t we go into the house and there we’ll explain everything,” said Lunar’s dad with a smile.

When everyone went into the house they went into the living room and sat down.  Noch and Lunar sat on one couch, Crescent was laying across the rest of the couch and he had his head on Lunar’s lap, and Star was laying on Noch’s lap.  Solor and his parents were on another couch, and Lunar’s parents were on another.

“So, I’m sure that both of you are wondering what this is all about,” said Lunar’s mom.

“Well, you see a while back the four of us met and began talking, then they mentioned that Lunar was here, we were so happy,” said Solor’s mom.

“Then we all thought about something,” continued Lunar’s dad.

Then Solor’s dad finished “What if our two shrines were to combine.”

“Wait, wait, wait, what do you mean by combine?” asked Noch, as the four parents smiled brightly.

“Lunar, this is the reason we wanted to talk to you,” said Lunar’s dad.

“I don’t mind if the two shrines combine as long as the Moon Shrine stays how it is,” said Lunar as Noch caught on.

Then he said annoyed as Crescent opened his eyes when he heard the tone in Noch’s voice “It’s not that simple, combining the two shrines would go against what some people felt best, so the only way to prevent a conflict is for there to be a…” Said Noch then he paused, then looked at Lunar and she looked at her parents, then at Solor then at his parents then back to hers.

Then she said as Crescent lifted his head up and growled at Solor “Marriage, an arranged marriage.”

Solor looked at his parents shocked and happy, then he thanked them more than he ever had.  Lunar and Noch just sat there with a look of shock, betrayal, anger, frustration, and pure annoyance, and Crescent and Star started to growl even more.

“Crescent, Star, stop that,” said Lunar’s mom.  But they didn’t.

Lunar stood up in anger and yelled “No!”

“Lunar…” Said her parents.

“No!  I’m not getting married to him, I don’t want our shrines to combine!”

“Lunar, come on be reasonable,” said her father a little strictly.

“Lunar, you don’t want to?” asked Solor hurt at her reaction.

Then she turned to him and said instantly “That’s right, I don’t want to, and I’m not going to!” Then she stormed off up to her room, and Crescent followed her after giving one last growl to Solor’s parents and shooting a bit of fire at Solor.

“I don’t understand I thought she would he happy,” said Solor’s mom as Noch clenched his fist and Star flew up and sat on his head.

“Well, I’ll talk to her, she’s probably just shocked,” said Lunar’s mom.

Now Noch stood up and yelled “Didn’t you hear was she said, she doesn’t want to!”

“Noch…” Said Lunar’s mom shocked.

“Hey boy, I’m not one for giving advice, but here’s some for you.  Stay away from Lunar!” Then he stormed off after Lunar, and as he did Star turned around on Noch’s head and gave a hiss.

“I don’t get it, Noch never speaks out against us, and Crescent and Star are acting strangely too,” said Lunar’s dad, after all Lunar’s mom was still too shocked to say anything.

Solor looked at the stairs that Lunar had gone up, then he got up and said “I’m going outside for a bit.”  As he went for the door he made a quick turn and ran up the stairs without any of the others noticing.

“I can’t believe them, how dare they arrange something like this without my approval!” Yelled Lunar as she stormed back and forth across her room.

Right now all four of them were in Lunar’s room, it was a pretty big room and it had a large window that lead out onto the roof.  Lunar would constantly go out there to think or just to relax and have some quiet time.

“Hey Lunar, if that guy was like a brother to you, why was he so happy to hear that you two were FORCFULLY engaged?” asked Noch calmly except when he got to ‘forcefully’.

“I don’t know, any way I don’t want to spend the rest of my life with him,” said Lunar annoyed as she started to calm down a little.

“According to what I heard about him he wasn’t all that bad, but still,” said Noch.

“Oh, yeah, not that bad as a brother, but as a husband?” asked Lunar angrily as Noch clenched his fists at the word ‘husband’.

“This is totally going to suck, I don’t want an arranged marriage, I want to choose someone for myself…” Said Lunar annoyed then she added playfully “I want to get married to you, not that child.”

“Oiy, not this again,” said Noch in a better mood.

“What’s wrong with that?  Is it really that bad of an idea?” asked Lunar as Noch looked at her then she added sadly as she covered her face with her hands “Do you hate me that much?”

“L-L-Lunar, it… that is… I’m sorry,” said Noch as he quickly went over to comfort her.

But stopped when he saw her peeking through her fingers at him with a smile, then she burst out laughing and started to twirl around with her arms out, as Noch said as he hit his head with his hand “I fell for it again.”

By now Crescent and Star were also in a better mood, then suddenly Crescent went over to the door and opened it with one of his claws, then looked down the hallway and saw Solor coming.  Then he quickly closed the door, went over to Lunar and Noch and tugged at Lunar’s shirt then pointed to the door with is nose.

“What is it?” asked Lunar, suddenly there was a knock on the door.

“Oh, that’s what it is,” said Lunar annoyed as she went over to the door, then opened in, and on the other side was Solor.

“Oh, hey Lunar, look I’m sorry about downstairs and all, I just wanted to know what you’ve been up to the past ten years,” said Solor with a smile.

Lunar looked at him then she said “Stuff.”

“What kind of stuff?” asked Solor as Noch walked behind Lunar so that Solor could see him, then Noch glared at Solor.

“Stuff kind of stuff,” said Lunar as Solor backed away from the door, then Noch walked up next to Lunar.

“As you can tell she don’t want to tell you, so why don’t you go back downstairs with your parents,” said Noch.

Suddenly they heard Solor’s mom call “Solor could you come here a second?”

Solor left then Lunar quickly closed the door, took out her bag, then she went over to some of her things then started packing.  She put in one thick book, a talisman that was gold on one side and that side had a sun on it, and the other side was silver and that had a moon on it.  Then she took out a container from a cupboard, and put that in, that had all of her money in it, which was quite a lot.  Then she put her clothes in the bag.

As she continued packing Noch asked “What are you doing?”

Without slowing down she said “Leaving.”

“Why?” asked Noch surprised.

“Because… because I want to, I don’t feel like staying here anymore,” said Lunar.

“Well, you… you really shouldn’t,” said Noch, then he added “Just talk to your parents.”

“Hey Noch, you remember how I really wanted to go to that school that teaches how to improved your magic and all?” asked Lunar.

“Yeah, I remember that your parents were really against it, so much so that they spent like, thirty times more on that book and talisman,” said Noch.

“Exactly, once they say something, it’s final, and that’s how it’s going to be with this stupid thing,” said Lunar, then she added “You remember how against it I was downstairs, but they still insisted, that means that they’re not going to take ‘no’ for an answer.”

“Hey Lunar…” Said Noch.

But before he could say anything Lunar quickly added “Nothing you say is going to change my mind.”

Noch looked at her then smiled and said “Just wait for me.”  Lunar looked at him, then he said “What you think that I’m just going to let you go on your own?”

“Thanks,” said Lunar as she gave him a hug, then said “Tonight at eleven, under the ancient pine tree.”

“Sure,” said Noch as he started to leave.

Then they heard a knock on the door and Solor said from the other side “Hey Lunar, can you come downstairs for a bit?”

“Why?” Called Lunar back from inside her room.

“So… uh, so we can say goodbye.” Called Solor.

He expected her to come running out and say “What you’re leaving already?” but instead she opened the door and asked annoyed “Are you seriously leaving, or is this some way to get me downstairs for that stupid event?”

“Well, both,” said Solor a little disappointed at her reaction.

“Fine, whatever,” said Lunar as all five of them went back downstairs.

“Lunar you came down,” said her mom.

“Well, yeah, I want those three to leave as soon as possible.  So what did you want to talk about?” asked Lunar as she and Noch sat down, and Crescent and Star went back to where they were before Lunar and Noch had left.

“Yes, well, we were wonder when the marriage should be arranged?” asked Solor’s mother cautiously.

“How about tomorrow at three in the afternoon?” Suggested Noch.

“Sounds good to me,” said Lunar, then she added “So now that that’s settled you three can leave.”

“We’ll leave after you answer one question:  Why is it that you seem to hate us now?” asked Solor.

Lunar looked at them all very seriously then said “Because that part of my life is over, I want nothing to do with you three, why do you think I didn’t follow after you when I had defeated all of those knights?”

“But why do you want nothing to do with us?” Asked Solor sadly.

“I already answered your one question,” Said Lunar coldly.

“You didn’t answer it all the way,” Said Solor.

“It’s because of what happened at the castle,” said Lunar, then she added “The last person I fought on that ground said that I was the princess of the Dragon Kingdom, and they said that they were from that kingdom.  That is, the part that was left after the Phoenix Kingdom came and used a dirty trick to turn that great kingdom into ruble.  Then you took me after killing the king and queen, my mother and father, and you gave me to the Royal Guard that protected you guys.  I, the only living heir of the Dragons Kingdom except for the prince that was said to be killed, was raised to protect the people who decimated my kingdom.”

When they all heard that they were shocked, then Solor’s dad said “That’s just a story they made up as an excuse to try and overthrow us.”

“Whatever, I answered your question now leave,” said Lunar as put her hands on her daggers.

Solor’s family left quickly, then when they were gone Lunar’s mom asked “Are you really ok with getting married?”

“Yeah,” said Lunar with a sickenly sweet smile and absolutely no note of lying in her voice.

“Well, then we’ll get your wedding dress ready for tomorrow, so basically you’re free for the rest of the day,” said her father as he and her mother left happily.
