Prologue- Fall of the Phoenix Kingdom

Prologue- Fall of the Phoenix Kingdom

A Chapter by MirageDreamer

The night was black.  The only light came from the moon, and the blazing fire of the burning castle.

The royal family had made it out safely, and so had a small girl.

She was the adopted daughter of the Royal Guard, and best friend to the young prince for they had both grown up together.  She was six years old, and she had the face of a goddess, she had long black hair, with silver and bright blue streaks that went down to her waist, and was neatly braded.  She had silvery blue eyes, with two dark purplish blue rim around them, five dots, one greenish blue, one yellow, one golden red, one bright green, and one ghost white, she also had an eight pointed rainbow star in the center of her eyes.  She had on black pants, a black shirt, with the royal symbol, which was a phoenix and a sun, she also had two long daggers, they were the right size for a sword for her.  The one was silver, and that one had a dragon as the handle, and the blade coming out of the dragon’s mouth, the other was gold, and that one was a phoenix and the blade was also coming out of its mouth, and she had on a silver bracelet with a crescent moon on it.  Last she had on a large black opal that had other opal swirls in it, and in the center there was a dragon made of silver, and a crystal moon, they were both imbedded in the opal.

Then young prince was also six, and he had bright orange hair, yellow eyes, and he had on purple pants, and a silk purple shirt.

The queen had long blond hair, and bright golden eye, she had on a long silk purple dress that was burnt at the edges, and a thin golden crown with a decent sized sunstone in the middle and two smaller rubies on either side.

The king had dark red hair, golden eyes, and he had on purple pants, and a silk purple shirt.

The royal family looked at the little girl who was watching the castle go up in flames; it was only thanks to her that they were able to escape.  “Come on Lunar, let’s leave quickly,” called the queen.

The girl didn’t move, but she said “I have to go back, father, and mother are back there fighting.”

“Lunar you can’t!” Yelled the boy over the crumbling castle.

Then they suddenly saw ten dark figures emerge from the fires and begin marching towards them.  “That’s the enemy,” said Lunar.

“How do you know?” asked the king.

“Look at the way they walk, it is as if they are proud of their victory, they think that you all died in the fire.  The warriors of the Royal Guard wouldn’t be like that, they would be looking through the castle, looking for you three,” said Lunar.

“Well, then let’s all escape now before they find out that we didn’t,” said the queen.

“No, they’re to close now, they’ve seen us,” said Lunar as the people started to run towards them with their weapons at the ready “You three escape, I’ll deal with them,” said Lunar.

“But you are only six, we know you’ve been to battles before, but it’s too dangerous, your parents would want you to live,” said the king.

“I will live, I've learned enough from my parents to protect myself,” said Lunar as she drew her daggers, then looked back at the boy with tears in her eyes and said “Solor, farewell.”

“Dad, Mom, come on let’s go,” said the boy as he tugged at his parents sleeved also with tears in his eyes.

“No, we can’t leave her,” said the queen.

“Come on!” Yelled the boy as he fought back the tears, then his mother and father looked down at him as he said “Remember what the Captain was always saying, ‘Lunar is probably the most skilled of all the fighters, the family she came from must have been magnificent warriors.’”

The King and Queen looked at Lunar then they started to leave.  When they were a ways away they heard yelling as if someone was in pain, then they looked back and saw Lunar fighting all ten of those people at once, three were already on the ground, and two more were falling.  As they went further and further away more people fell until there was only one left.  One whose outline shone darkly in front of the roaring fire, that one was Lunar.

In the next month the royal family started the Shrine of the Sun in commemoration to the Phoenix Kingdom which had fallen, and Lunar had been taken in by a family that was head of the Shrine of the Moon.

However, Solor never forgot about Lunar, and he continued to look for her for many years, then after nine years he stopped searching, then one year later their paths would cross again.

Solar and Lunar. Coincidence? I don't think so. :) Love the story so far. I read in your profile that when you write your scenes play out in anime in you mind? Well, what I'm thinkin is, you have to be careful sometimes, just because you see it so clearly in your head, don't forget to discribe it for everyone else to see too. I love the tension in this one, but it's really anime-y, no offense, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm just asking you, do you want the reader to picture this as an anime while they're reading? Again, no offense.

The queen said Lunar was what? Six? Daughter of the palace guard, I won't be surprised that uh, she picks up a few things once in a while like fighting, and I won't be surprised if she has daggers with her but the line 'you forget although I'm young I am skilled' just didn't sound right for a six-year-old............ Nicely done. I'm reading further.....
