Happily Heartless

Happily Heartless

A Poem by Silver Silence
"

best friends and the art of moving on

"
I'll take your heart
and bury it deep with mine
we'll lock them up
so we won't have to hurt
like we have been

then we will stand up
and brush off the dirt
from our scars
so we can live
in zombie-like bliss

no heartaches
no cares
screw the opposite sex
let's just be us with the world
and leave the drama behind

our minds will keep us
seemingly sane
and that will suffice
until we are ready
to get back into the risks
of caring again

then you and I
will go down to the graves
scratch away the muck
with our bare hands
gently place our hearts back in
and prepare for another battle

don't bury your heart for ANYONE!

thank you :) it's grand hearing how the story tells to another, and a very good phrase for it, too.

and to not burying my heart at all, it was more of a healing the heart, getting over someone, and moving on, 'tis natural

This is a really great poem. It is beautiful and has a sadness in the way that it tells of a parting of friends and the need to pretend it doesn't hurt to keep sane and rational. Reminds me, sort of, of the phrase "Fake it 'til you make it." Soon, the two will come together again and be truly happy, but until then they just think it better to keep focused on other things. Great job!
