What I’ve Known (Opal Hearth)A Poem by SilvanWritten while I was listening to “The Unforgiven II” by Metallica. I’m still trying to figure out what it means specifically.
What I’ve Known
By. Silvan 1 Shallows stand around me 2 Raised through the thoughts I manifest to my own gain 3 Nor I think in time or length 4 But rather the measure of my tears that built my sanity 5 A sanity that exists only to smother the Opal’s vicious Hearth 6 A flame that resists its inner heat, calling to the stones around to take its tongue and leave 7 Divide its nimble body into the realm surrounding 8 Only then will it grow weary in its quest for query 9 In weakness thoughts hither 10 Thoughts wander in circles 11 They greet outstretched hands of yore 12 But only to pass 13 Gripping onto smoke 14 coal dust hallow 15 Onto all that should be seen by the eyes of the bricks 16 The mortar connecting the flames to the Hearth 17 The Hearth of the Opal’s vicious 18 the Hearth smothered in my tears 19 It’s a cold place 20 The kind frozen in the serenity of broken repertoire 21 Chilling the heart and evaporating dread 22 The flame was not warm after all 23 ‘Twas a slack 24 ‘Twas always cold 25 Dispersal fulfilled its will 26 It’s absence allowed the polar expanse 27 Resistance was its measure 28 Not one of time nor length 29 Only the tears of its own sanity 30 A sanity stronger than all else 31 One that defied its purpose 32 The sanity of the Opal Hearth © 2020 SilvanAuthor's Note
