Midori woke up the next day, eager to get her test over with so she could do some real missions. Midori quietly grabbed her clothes and had a shower. When she got out and was brushing her hair when there was knocking at the door. She quickly finished putting her hair up and opened the door. On the other side stood a bored-looking Sasuke.
"What do you want?" Midori asked quizzically. "Heh...Kakashi wanted me to take you to him for your test." he said. She sighed "I don't need an escort." she grumbled. Suddenly Midori was pushed forwards and almost fell on Sasuke. She spun around "What the hell?!" she scowled at a grinning Mizuki and Kioko, who were still in their pajamas. "Hey Midori! Who's he?!" Kioko squeaked and stared at Sasuke who had a surprised look on his face.
"Sasuke Uchiha. I have to go. He's no one to worry about." Midori smirked and rolled her eyes. "Is he your boyfriend or something?" Mizuki piped up. Midori and Sasuke exchanged a glance, then Midori threw her brush at their heads. "No!" she growled. "We have to leave. If you wanna know more about him why not go find Ino or Sakura!" Midori growled and pushed Sasuke in front of her impatiently. Midori could hear Kiki running after them. Midori started to walk beside Sasuke and Kiki bounced along on her other side. "So who were they?" Sasuke asked slowly. "Friends." Midori answered quickly.
Midori and Sasuke were silent on their way. Midori didn't really want to talk to him anyway. She wasn't sure why, but she somehow felt a resentment for him. Sasuke led Midori to a different training area surrounded by tree's, not much of anything else. "He said he'll meet you here for your test." Sasuke murmured. "Alright" Midori sighed and sat down in the grass with Kiki. Sasuke stared at her until she looked at him with a 'what do you want' sort of look. He grunted, then disappeared without a word.
Midori was laying in the grass, staring at the clouds with Kiki for at least an hour before Kakashi had actually appeared. "Hey, I apologize for being late Midori-chan" said a cheerful Kakashi. Midori sat up "Don't worry about it..." she smirked. "I just wanna get this over and done with okay?" she sighed. "Right. Show me your clone jutsu." Kakashi pulled out his orange little book. Midori rolled her eyes "Ram, snake, tiger." she murmured and two copies appeared on each side of her. "Well done." he nodded. "You learned a forbidden jutsu quickly. Now instead of delivering a package, I'm supposed to test your skills more...thoroughly." Kakashi waved his hand.
Midori blinked in surprise when her friend Kioko appeared. "What are you--" "She's here to help you show how good your training has become." Kakashi explained quickly. "Yup! Mizuki has Kiki and is hanging out with Kiba and his team!" Kioko squeaked excitedly. Midori was confused and glanced back to where she had left Kiki. She was no where to be seen. Midori suppressed a laugh. "She has records of being a skilled sand ninja so you need not worry for her safety. You must fight her with killing intent." Kakashi said and nodded to Kioko who smiled back widely.
Midori just gave a curt nod to show she understood. "Alright, go ahead and start you two." Kakashi announced. Midori and Kioko went in separate directions into the tree's. Midori wasted no time in using the shadow clone jutsu. The Midori's all dispersed to find Kioko.
~Kioko~
Kioko hid in a tree to wait for Midori to appear. As soon as she spotted her she leaped out of the tree. She formed some hand signs "Sand Blade!" she said and her voice echoed around them. Midori spun around to see sand quickly swirling around Kioko's arm, forming a blade that wrapped itself firmly half way up. Kioko swung it around with such speed that it was hard to see.
The sword struck Midori hard, but the Midori turned into puff of smoke. "A clone?" Kioko muttered impatiently. 'I gotta make this fast 'cause Kakashi-sempai promised me candy!" Kioko smiled to herself. Everything around her was silent and the sand blade dissipated. Kioko plopped down on a tree branch and leaned against the tree thoughtfully. "Okay...I should use my daddy's jutsu thats perfect for when there's more than one opponent. Lets see..." she trailed off as she stared at her hands.
A blank expression crossed her face a few moments later. "Gah! What was it even called again?!" she said loudly in frustration. Kioko put a hand above each ear and shook her hair. "Grr, I can't remember!" she hissed and accidentally fell off the branch. She yelped, but before she hit the ground she flipped onto her feet. When Kioko finally recovered from her surprise a kunai flew past her head and penetrated deep into the tree behind her. She blinked rapidly in confused surprise, then decided to jump away, but to her dismay she couldn't get her feet off the ground. Something had suddenly wrapped around her ankles.
"Kyaa!" she screamed and fell on her face. Kioko used her hands to push herself off the ground and looked behind her. She saw Midori's clone holding her ankles, then another swiped her weapon pouch before she could reach for it. Then more clones jumped out of the bushes and held Kioko down. 'I can get out of this easy.' she thought, then remembered her mother's advice. 'Only use what you need to. Simple competitions that don't really have any stakes, training for example, save the best for last. Never let them know all your cards before you start the real game.'
"Okay I think we're done Kakashi-sempai!" Kioko yelled. Kioko didn't really mind the loss too much because she'd still get lots of candy! Midori gave her a disbelieving look like she couldn't accept such an easy victory. Kakashi appeared and looked at Kioko, then Midori, then back at Kioko. Kioko returned his gaze cheerfully and shrugged.
Midori's clones disappeared, leaving one remaining that sat on Kioko's back and was holding a kunai by her throat. Kakashi nodded "Midori wins. Good work both of you. Congratulations Midori, genin of Konoha." he smiled. Midori put away the kunai and helped Kioko up. "Thanks." Midori smiled slightly. Kakashi walked up to her and handed Midori a Hidden Leaf headband.
