Memories?

Memories?

A Chapter by Silvaeth
"

The thoughts of a friend can be hard to read and even harder to understand. Midori shies away from even thinking about the mysterious Sasuke and goes out on a walk. Is she going completely insane or is there more to her past than she remembers?

"

Training was a lot of fun with the other team. Midori had become much better acquainted with Hinata and Shino. Midori thought that Shino's fascination or obsession with bugs was interesting and Hinata's shy determination to prove herself inspiring. After that Sakura found her and taught Midori more on Chakra while Kiki sat on her head when she meditated.

She met up with Sasuke and trained until it was really dark. Midori lay down in the grass below a beautiful cherry blossom tree and stared at the stars. Sasuke leaned against the tree and stared straight ahead of him. Midori pondered whether to tell him about her encounter with Itachi the other night. She stared at him thoughtfully for a long time. Sasuke looked at Midori with a questioning glance. Midori shook her head to clear her mind.

She decided against telling him anything. Later that night, Sasuke had walked her home for some reason and she felt weird walking home alone with him. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Midori smiled at him when they reached her door. Sasuke stood face to face with her, his eyes looked as if to be searching for something. Somehow Midori sensed that here was something different about the genin. He leaned closer to her and she backed away. "I'll pass." she said quickly, then closed the door slowly so she didn't slam it in his face.

"Good night." she whispered, and then closed her door and locked it. Midori closed her eyes and leaned against the door. "Whatever's going on I don't want it." she murmured and wrapped her arms around herself. Kiki sat on the floor in front of her, she tilted her head to the side, empathy shone in her green eyes. "Actually, I'm going to go for a walk Kiki, you stay here okay?" Midori murmured.

Kiki barked once and limped over to her bed. She stumbled in and got comfortable. "Thanks." Midori said with a sigh of gratitude. She put her ear to the door and assumed Sasuke would have left by now. She sighed and got up. Before leaving she decided to grab an apple to munch on during her walk, after all it was really late already. Midori left and walked around with her thoughts swirling in her mind.

It was dark and the stars shone brightly. Konoha seemed deserted since most would be asleep already, but Midori wasn't tired. She closed her eyes as she walked and tried to think back to her past with her parents. It all seemed a distant memory now. She remembered running after butterflies, picking flowers, and then there was darkness.

She stopped walking and held her right hand to the center of her chest. Suddenly in her minds eye, out of the darkness appeared a boy. A very young boy dressed in a brown tunic with short red hair. She felt a pang in her chest as the boy fell to his knee's, holding his head as if he was being tormented. Tears began to roll down her cheeks 'Who is he? What's happening?!' she screamed mentally. There was a huge pressure in Midori's head and it became difficult to breathe. She looked towards the boy again more closely, but she couldn't see his face because it was parallel to the ground.

Out of nowhere a little silvery-haired girl appeared about a meter away from where the boy knelt and voices rang out. Screams, hateful words such as 'monster' and 'vile demon'. Then the little girl screamed the loudest 'No! He's my friend and just because he's better than you doesn't mean he's scary!" her voice drowned out the others and the boy looked up, his face wet with tears.

The little girl ran to his side and hugged him "Right Gaara-kun? Your the specialist boy ever and we'll always be friends 'kay?" the girl grinned. Then everything faded back into darkness and Midori opened her eyes. Midori's body trembled and she collapsed on the ground in a heap. She didn't know why she'd felt so weak just then and struggled to her feet. Midori looked up to see the boy from earlier that day. "G-Gaara-kun?" she repeated the name from her memory.

The boy stopped walking just as he passed her. He said nothing. "Gaara-kun?" she repeated louder this time and reached to grab his shoulder, but her hand was grazed by a quick moving sand that made her hand bleed. Now her black glove was ripped badly and her blood slowly trickled from her hand. Midori pulled back her hand on reflex. "Ow..." she mumbled.

The boy turned to look at her and sand started to engulf her hand. The boy's eyes grew wide and he stared at her hand. Even she wasn't quite sure why, but Midori didn't pull away. There was only a slight piercing sensation that shot through her hand and up her arm. "Gaara-kun." Midori repeated quietly. "Midori-chan?" he asked in a raspy voice. His eyes were locked on the sand that covered Midori's hand entirely.

Oo, this seems to be getting very interesting. Now, Gaara's introduced! Was Midori having a flashback or something? It seemed like it. Hmm... it seems like they've met already in the past, when they were little. Very interesting! Gaara seemed surprised to see her. I can't wait to read more! This was a great chapter! Great job! Keep going! Full support all the way!
