Injured KikiA Chapter by SilvaethMeeting her enemy the previous night ended miserably for Midori's pup Kiki, however they are in luck when a friend drops by with literally no sense of time. The other night Midori had had a stressful second meeting with her family murderer. When she got home she'd locked the door, made Kiki as comfortable as possible in a good sized bed basket and had placed it beside her bed. Her sleep was restless and she kept waking up to check on Kiki.
Her meeting with Itachi had sent her blood aboil. Around 6:30 am Midori had an extremely hot shower and found that where Itachi had touched her was painful. After her shower she checked her face in the mirror to see if there was a scratch or something of the sort, but found nothing. There was a knock at the door.
Midori disappeared into her room. A few moments later she'd slipped into her regular black top and navy capri's, then came back out. Kiba's face was still a light red. "Jeez. Your embarrassed and I'm not. Interesting how that works." She smirked and casually sat down in the chair across from Kiba at the kitchen table. "Well?" she asked impatiently. She looked at Akamaru who sat atop Kiba's head. "I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I know Ino isn't the greatest, but you'd just met her and I could already see sparks flying..." Kiba said while looking down at his hand that rested on the table as if to avoid her gaze.
Akamaru barked and scrambled off Kiba's head. He ran across the table, onto the floor and disappeared into Midori's room. Kiba stood up and went after Akamaru. Midori followed. She sat on her bed when they were inside. Akamaru whimpered and was nosing Kiki in her basket. Kiba's eyes grew wide again. Kiki was still in the bed basket but appeared as though she'd been in a fight. "What happened to her?" Kiba asked and looked at Midori. Midori was staring at Kiki. "It's none of your business, is it?" Midori growled. She didn't want to tell him about the ordeal the other night.
Midori got up as Kiba started to inspect Kiki and walked out of the room. She was extremely releived that Kiba had come. It was a sign he was not angry with her. Even more important, he might know what to do for Kiki from his experience with Akamaru. Midori wandered blankly over to her couch and slumped down on it. She hated the fact she could let her friend get hurt so easily. The girl began to fiddle with the hem of her shirt while she waited for Kiba, trying to keep from thinking too much about the other night.
Something of Itachi kept tearing into her mind no matter how hard she tried. His eyes. With a close enough look they were like a maze. Deceptive. But something in her mind kept knawing at the thought of what could she possibly have any meaning to him? She was just some random girl as useless as the next. What he had done still infuriated her, but as her mind scowered her memory of his eyes she found it start to ebb away.
Midori dragged herself to her feet off of the couch and walked back into the kitchen. She thought for a moment. "I'm going to pick some things up. I'll be right back!" She rose her voice loud enough so she knew Kiba would hear her. The boy appeared at the door of her room into Midori 's sight. "Don't forget to pick up some bandages. She'll need them..." he said with a worried expression. She looked at him for a brief second before sliding her shoes on. "I won't forget." Midori assured him.
With that Kiba disappeared back into the room. She watched him go, the pang of guilt still strong. Midori stayed for a moment longer. Then she turned to the door and pulled it open. She closed her eyes long enough to murmur "Thank you so much Kiba..."
Midori walked fast down the street. She tried to find the shop that she could buy what she needed. Midori still was not fully familiar with the layout of shops. She glanced around searchingly. Her eyes soon fell on a young boy with fiery red hair with a gourde on his back walking her way. The boy's eyes looked at her, light green eyes full of an icy coldness. He'd kept walking past her and Midori spun around. "I know you from somewhere..." she murmured, eyes locked on him. The boy stopped walking and half turned to look at her. © 2009 Silvaeth |
