Lil Old Town

Lil Old Town

A Poem by Kristine Ferg

Heaven dropped a candle;
it lit the town of south Denmark
where the beings there play "Rebel Rebel"
to a singer lost in figurines;
dancers of the isle,
the place where thistles grow
and willow, and wander, while
their teachers, listen carefully
to the trees for their times, taint-fully
shaking with breeze in ease
so far and in between,
that you could never get it from me.

Do we really live for each other? Do I live to please others? Who are we when the world is calling for someone else to take a stand?
