Poetry Introduction

To begin my poetry book I have a couple of poems that I selected to set apart from the others. I did this because they state everything you need to know about me in just 149 words. I really hope that as you read my book, you take away a lesson from each section. I started out just writing in 8^th grade as an outlet for my emotions. It was not until my sophomore year in high school that I realized I could help others with my writing. I want to help others realize that there is someone out there who felt what they are feeling and they are not completely alone. My wish for my book is that it helps others through their problems as they go through all of the ups and downs of life.

Emotionless Poetry

There is something I must say.

An opinion I must state.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and this is mine.

I do not believe in emotionless poetry.

Poetry is to be felt by the heart.

It must be written from experience.

It has to have emotion.

Thoughts are not enough.

The heart has to be there as well.

For as I see it,

Poetry without emotion is a blank piece of paper with scribbles on it.

 

Non-Fiction Fiction

These poems that I write,

They tell of my life.

They tell of each feeling I have,

As I go through pain, sadness, happiness, and confusion.

People may read my poems.

They can think it is just fiction if they wish.

Though truth be told,

The words I write are all true.

Sometimes things change.

These changes can make non-fiction into fiction.

What can I say?

I simply write non-fiction fiction.
