I am FireA Poem by Piper LynnNever a friendLeaping from the pulsing coals, alighting The skeletons of dead woodland giants. You dance on their branches like the leaves that Used to hang there, absorbing the sun's glow. Oh warm flame, why did you turn against us? We used to be such friends and we still are. You warm our homes, help us see in the night, And comfort us in strange evil places. So why do you mar us so heartlessly? I do this because I care not for you. Yes I warm you and keep evil at bay, But I am not your, or anyone's, friend I am not a pet to be trained and caged. I am free, I am faithless, I am fire. © 2011 Piper LynnAuthor's Note
