Hidden Strength

Hidden Strength

A Poem by Chantee
"

The effects of peer pressure on guys. The need to be tough instead of soft on the outside.

"
You take pride in you soft strength
it builds from within.
Showing when its need most.
You sense my struggles,
proving to me just how strong you are.
Protective,
there to catch me when I fall.
But they begin to change you,
judge you for showing such strength.
You feel the need to please them.
Not me;
so you hide, bury it within.
Everything on the surface becomes hard and distant.
No longer to show the soft protectiveness;
once freely delivered.
I don't trust that you will be there
to catch me if i should fall.
Please trust that strength.
Let it shine.
Don't let their voices seep within you,
and suppress the beauty of your strength.
